Summin' up a year of projects...

It didn't feel like I got much done this past year, but here is the sewing version of my year's worth...
Not to bad :)  I'm happy with it!

And the big project of the year, that was mostly non-sewing related (however, quite a bit involved sewing now that I think about it)...

...it's definitely the most fun too!  Thinking of doing it again, to an Airstream this time!  That'll keep me busy for a few months ;).  On to 2013 and lots more fun!!!

A little Dolly...

A sweet little girl I know asked for a "pink doll", and I just had to oblige!  I drew out the perfect doll, and although she did not come out quite as I planned, she's still awfully cute :)!  I call her "knobby knees".  She is very well loved, especially her long hair!  The yarn comes down to her legs :)  She's just right for the little girl to love and cuddle.  She's about 20" tall.  It was fun to try to start from square one and go from there- with a cute end result!  And it made a little girl happy- what better result it there?!!

Auction Doll

I heart Bit of Whimsy Dolls~ I have loved Sarah's patterns for years- they were the first thing I tried sewing when I taught myself to sew almost 2 years ago. They make me smile and she has so many darling patterns, they are just too fun! We have a charity auction coming up that I needed to make something for, and this seemed to be the perfect solution. Who can resist a pink doll, extra clothes, and a pillow and blanket set?? I hope it helps the cause! Here's the auction doll with all her extras...
Some Sunkissed and Lizzie House fabric- so perfect!
When my little saw me making a pink doll, well, let's just say, I made two instantly :) I love the "twin" too and used a few different fabrics to add variety. It made her smile- mission accomplished! I love a good day's work- well, actually two days in this case :)
Here's a full length shot of the "twin" - this is the Mae pattern, in case you are interested, and here is Sarah's wonderful site: http://www.bitofwhimsydolls.com. Head on over to see the cuteness!

Vintage Fabric Finds :)

As you are well aware of, I LOVE thrifting- it has become something I can only let myself do once a week, or I would drag the family everyday! And homework must get done- hehe! The past few weeks I have found some wonderful sheets that I am busy putting FQs into my shop from. I also found some sheets that were added to "my" stash that will become quilt backs, etc. This one SCREAMED out at me as I walked past! Angela (http://www.cuttopieces.blogspot.com) says her fabric talks- well, then it only seems right that vintage sheets can also communicate. And this sheet SCREAMED!! :) It also jumped right into my cart! I adored Strawberry Shortcake when I was younger, and still love the original especially. I even have all of the scented dolls from my younger years out that I can grin at and remember the "good ole days"! Anyway, here it the screamer:
Isn't it just wondermous??!! I think it's gonna make a great quilt!
Another love of my dolly days was Cabbage Patch Kids- I had 13 of them- from twins to a Preemie, to an astronaut, to several boys, to an International one, and the list goes on! So when I saw this, it talked too! (Not screaming, but talked firmly) And jumped in the cart! :)
Such fun and such great memories!
Then I found 2 pieces of fabric that really made me smile. The first is a circus theme, and while I am not a fan of the circus, I loved some of the animals on it. They will be very fun once cut up and in a project!! The bird clinched the purchase! (and it was only $1.50 or something like that- not bad for almost 2 yards!)
And the other piece was this Disney print. The alphabet mixed with the pink background and characters was too darling to pass by! And it's a thicker weight fabric too! So fun!
The style is Very ME!
So along with all the sheets, there are bits and pieces of memories and glimpses of the past that make me smile! Hope you smiled some too!

So many projects, so little time ;)

My list of projects seems to grow daily :). Isn't that just how life is??? I think of something else, and on my list it goes. I'm a list person. I make lists for EVERYTHING! It helps me feel like I am progressing toward the goal, although that's completely in my mind ;). I have a running grocery list that I would go crazy if I lost! I have my project list and a list of ideas going all the time.

Today was a beautiful day here- perfect for a bike ride, so that's what we did! I love being outside, and before it gets too hot is just wonderful! I also got a start on some Spring cleaning, and while I was doing things, I was, of course, thinking of projects! hehe- One jumped into my brain pretty hard. Not sure if it's going to be a doll, pillow, wall hanging, hmmm... but I do know what she'll look like :) Here's a glimpse of her cuteness!!

Hope you are all having a sunny, happy weekend, full of things you love to do and with those that are dear to you!
