Fair Warning!

Ok, here's your fair warning! DON'T GO NEAR JOANNS on a Saturday close to holiday time!

You'd think I would have learned my lesson last year on Black Friday! HA! But I figured that Thanksgiving ha not hit yet, so I should be ok. WRONG!! I just needed some interfacing for a handbag I want to try, and today was the 60% off coupon day. I was gonna buy a whole bolt :) Well, got there, took a number, and ran to the interfacing aisle. The bolt only had less than 2 yards on it- ugh! Then I stood in line for the cut counter and it took 20 minutes to go from #1 to #2- and there were FOUR people cutting!! Really! I was #35~! Uh, NO! There was no way- I will just have to wait on my interfering. I'll try during the day next week and see if I have any better luck! Here's hoping- and now you have been warned ;)

Calendars

I am REALLY big on them- I like to write, not type, and I like to have it all in front of me :) You should see the calendar on my desk- it looks like a huge scribble there is so much written on it- trying to keep up with our Zoo and all :) And it stays at home- too big to carry. That can be hard to schedule things when my brain is on my desk at home! HA! But following Joy's (www.joyshope.com) recommendation, I just got an Erin Condren planner at a steal! They are normally $50- that's outta my budget, but today you can get a $50 gift certificate for $25! You also get a $5 rebate for signing up at the plum district. And then, if you use the code FABULOUS, you get another 10% off!! Seriously!! Add it all up, well, actually, subtract it, and the planner is only $17.50!! Woot! And if you don't like planners, they have awesome call me cards, address labels, ideas for dads, and all sorts of fun things! My kinda place :) So if you want to hurry over and grab your cerfiticate, I've heard these go fast... Enjoy :)

I LOVE thrifting :)

I had my weekly thrift store excursion today- it's just one store, but I love it :) I found such cute stuff! It is always something different, and that's the fun of it! Today I found some darling red shoes, these 4 sheets (I love the beautiful yellows), 5 cardigans- I have gone crazy for cardigans!, and a few odds and ends. Such fun, such fun! I love the surprise of it all and how when I use my 20% off my entire purchase coupon, I get an even bigger bargain :) Sa-weet! I love hunting for good deals! That's why I guess I am a thrifter at heart <3. Good day, good night- sweet dreams all!

And yes, I snuck in 5 other sheets from earlier this week (I made an exception and went thrifting twice this week!). Isn't that top bright aqua flower sheet perfect?! Eeeppppp! What else can you do when you feel cruddy from a sinus infection- thrifting therapy always helps :) ?? Yup, I feel much better now :)!!

Thrifting Jackpot!!

Woohoo- I found a thifting goldmine today! Well, it was actually in the same store I always shop in, but today was extraordinary-I found vintage sheet city! It was so exciting I was skipping down the aisles :) I get seriously giddy when I find good deals and I had a 20% off coupon for the entire purchase, so it was a happy moment indeed! I wound up with 15 sheets and 6 pillowcases, in prints of the sheets mostly. WOW!! I couldn't believe it :).
I have been wanting to make Jeni's Giant Vintage Star Quilt (over at http://incolororder.blogspot.com/) but needed some purple. I thought about ordering some from her shop but told myself I would check my thrift shop today- they have NEVER had a purple sheet since I have been collecting. There were 3 today- count them, 3!!!! Deep purple stripes, tiny lavendar rose buds, and the medium purple heart rope looking one. I was in shock. I was grabbing sheets right and left- I couldn't get them in my cart fast enough. You would have thought I'd won a shopping spree!
With my current stash and now these, my storage space will be quickly depleted, so I may wind up selling some fat quarters in my shop. I'll see what happens over the next few weeks. And how good I can cram them in my closet :) hehe! They are in the washer right now and I can hardly stand it, waiting to add them to my collection. I never thought old sheets would be so fun- don't start, it's addicting. It makes me nostalgic and think of the dear people that have gone before me. I get to sort them all tonight and play with colors- I think I will have enough to tackle the giant star quilt of Jeni's!! Yipee skipee!! Can you tell I can hardly wait??!!?? :) Off to fold sheets...

Beginnings of a Rainbow and Kaelin's Rockin' Giveaway!!

I'll start with a fabulous giveaway that my friend, Kaelin, is having over on her blog... The girl is incredibly talented- I've told her I wanna be like her when I "grow up"! I better hurry up cause I'm older than she is already ;)! She has had the best giveaways this month, part of her Blogiversary celebrations, and this week leaves nothing to be desired. Fabric, doll quilt, happiness, and fun- you will not be disappointed! Head on over and see what a sweetheart she is! http://theplaidscottie.blogspot.com/

Dut, dut, dut, da!!!! I FINALLY have my Kona solids for my Bottled Rainbow quilt! I'd been flustered at how much it was gonna cost to order them all, since I only have "flesh" kona in my stash. So I was absolutely thrilled when Joann's decided to put them on sale AND have a 25% off your entire purchase coupon, both at the same time. Problem was that they do not carry all the colors. That was ok with me- I like being creative! So I went to 3 different Joann's to get colors that were close enough to me, and still made me smile happy inside like a rainbow would do! The blue-green in the stack is not Kona- just an off brand because, stinker, they didn't carry the color I needed ;). I love how the colors turned out and am so excited to start! I know some very kind friends who are sharing some scraps with me to help my variety not be pitiful ;) You know who you are- thank you more than I can say!!!!!! So here is my pile- I got enough of each color to be able to bind it in strips too- I thought a rainbow binding would also be fun! Have a wonderful day, and look for rainbows!
